Along with the “Arab Spring” that broke out at the end of 2010 and the escalation of the civil war in Syria after 2011, the countries in the region, notably Turkey, and Europe faced an unprecedented influx of migration, resulting in a refugee crisis in the EU in 2015.

Cumhurbaşkanı Erdoğan’ın İstanbul Sözleşmesi’nden Türkiye’nin ayrılmasına dair TBMM’nin onayı olmaksızın tek başına verdiği kararın ardından, benzer usulün Montrö Boğazlar Sözleşmesi’nden çekilmek için de pekâlâ işletilebileceğine dair yorumların da yapılmasıyla Montrö Sözleşmesi birçok tartışmaya konu olmaya başladı. Diğer yandan, AKP iktidarının 2011 yılında duyurduğu ve hayata geçirmek için bir süredir adımlar atmakta olduğu Kanal İstanbul Projesi de bu tartışmalara yeni boyutlar kazandırmış ve hukuk, siyaset ve milli güvenliğe ilişkin çeşitli soru işaretlerine yol açmış durumda.

While the celebration of women’s day dates back to the first decade of the 20th century, more action is still to be taken by all countries to eradicate all forms of discrimination against women and to materialize the equality of men and women.

To justify its military operations in Syria, Turkey has referred to self-defense and counterterrorism, and vaguely invoked humanitarian intervention and responsibility to protect civilians. In Libya, however, Turkey invoked UN resolutions and bilateral security agreements for its operations.

As its troop deployments in Syria and Libya are constituting an intervention into domestic jurisdiction, Turkey needed to show that it is complying with the international laws as well as setting out the rationale for its military operations in those countries.

This report aims to elicit and analyze the outrageous acts and/or omissions of the Turkish authorities against individuals –whom they claim are affiliated with, connected to, or members of the Gülen Group– within the legal purview of crime against humanity.
